I like the combination of flowers and tar. something delicate and translucient interacting with the
rich opaquity of tar.

I like to go to Highland County every Summer and I spend a lot of my time enjoying the way the hills roll into each other. then I stretch my vacation out by painting those hills and views over and over.

I have done a number of tar still life combinations. I like the way it emphasises the negative space and it makes the color more interesting to me.

I have been interested in working with tar.
This is a painting I have started- of course the shine of the tar has made it hard to photograph, but I love the way the tar spreads- I have added sand to some areas and pigment in places.
We'll see what happens!
